Personal and Professional Development
Cooperative Yes Conference:
The Co-ops Yes conference is a youth conference that helps to educate students about professional development, leadership skills, and to help educate them on cooperatives. Each year a student executive board is elected to plan and run the next years conference. I served on the 2014-2015 executive board. At this conference we presented different material to students about leadership and personal growth. We also worked with students on goals setting, leadership development, and learning about the importance of cooperatives. This conference offered me an opportunity to plan an event, educate students, and help students grow in their leadership abilities.I gained many skills during this conference including communication skills, leadership skills, and event planning. Overall I learned a lot from this experience an look forward to future endeavors with the Cooperative yes conference.
Ag-Bio Prexy Coucil Social:
In the spring of 2017 I took a leap and planned the Ag-Bio Prexy Council social. This social was put on as an opportunity for members of SDSU Ag-Bio clubs to come together and learn more about each others organizations. This event was planned through Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT club). Being I held a position within the club I was able to use my committee to help in planning this event. This event helped me to develop planning skills, which are skills that I can use in my future career. I was also able to implement my leadership and team working skills to help plan the social. Before this event I was not a very organized person, but this event forced me to grow in my time management and organizational skills. It also taught me skills as to how to distress in a high stress situation. Overall this event helped me to grow as a person and a leader. I will utilize the skills I learned throughout my entire life.
